For many, growing up, Christmas held magic and mystery. It was a time of gifts and cheer. But as we progressed in life, many of us experienced disappointments associated with the season. Maybe you lost a loved one, and this time is especially bitter. Or, maybe you have difficult family members that you dread seeing each year. Or, quite possibly, it’s even something as simple as the “magic of the season” never living up to what you remember. You might experience disappointments around Christmas-time. The good news is, you aren’t alone. In fact, the very first Christmas story was filled with disappointments. It seemed every person touched by the events of Jesus’ birth had to deal with hardship and disappointment in their own way. Yet, on the other side of that disappointment, a great miracle happened.
